The Worst Addiction In The World

The worst addiction in the world isn't a drug and it is not alcohol. However, when we have it we want more and more. It takes parents away from giving attention to their children (for their birthdays and Christmas there is a present that is better than anything you can buy. That is your time and attention...a hug and a kiss from their PARENTS) and it changes you to be someone you aren't. You become so worried about how others think of you that you start to act like someone else. You forget who you really are...which is sad.

This addiction is.....a piece of paper with a number on it. Yes, people, I am talking about money. Now don't get me wrong, money is the backbone of all businesses. Without it, we can't move forward in the world. However, there is such a thing as a limit!!! When do ever hear a multimillionaire say "Ok, I have what I ever dreamed of having and I have everything I need. It is time to stop."? NEVER!!!!

I have learned early in life what Hamburger Helper is and also having to look through the refridgerator to put together a meal. I learned to budget my money and look for bargains (second hand stores are great, aren't they?). There was a time in my life that I was on the streets and had NOTHING. In fact, there was one week where I was huddled against the side of an abandoned grocery store during an ice storm, drinking water from icecicles.

You millionaires out there think you are helping out by giving to charity. I applaude you for this, BUT, you have to think. Just what percentage of that money goes to the needy? I'm sorry to say this, people, but not that much. MAYBE 10% is spent on the actual cause..the rest...overhead, and in the WALLETS of the CEO/owners.

Example...when I was on the streets, I had gone to the mission to eat. I had the chance to help unload some things and food that was donated. Really good quality food (there was 3 big boxes of steaks) was being unloaded and boxes full of BRAND NEW, never been worn, shoes. Were these given to the homeless??? NO!!! The PAID employees of that mission took everything good home with them. We were fed watered down elk and llama soup (no...you don't need glasses, I wrote llama and meant it) and those employees took home the good meat to their families. These people are being PAID to help those who don't have anything and they were taking from them instead!!

Now there is an addiction so wonderful, so powerful, that it changes you for the good. That addiction is the feeling you get when you help someone. You feel so warm and fuzzy and it puts a feeling of happiness inside you that noone can take from you. You automatically want more of that feeling so the addiction starts. Don't fight it, go with it and you can have that feeling every day.

Have you ever gave a dollar (or if you want to surprise, give more) to that person standing on the street corner with a sign? Have you ever noticed the smile on that person's face when you give that money? You don't just give that bill, you give a little ray of sunshine. It might be the only money that person sees all day and YOU gave it, now how wonderful that makes you feel? It feels OUTSTANDING!!!! I am so addicted to that feeling that I help out when I can (unfortunately one of my 4 mental illnesses is Social Anxiety Disorder and I feel nervous or scared around people).

Now, I am going to interupt this message for a lesson. Don't be the one that rolls down the window of the car and yell "get a job!" to that person. Do you HONESTLY believe that person can in his/her situation? They aren't there because they WANT to, they are there because they are down in their luck. What company will even give them an application wearing the only clothes that they have? They have less chance because no company would hire someone who doesn't have an address let alone a phone number. Now because of the depression and the pain of where they are at, they turn to drugs and alcohol for comfort. Think, people, before opening your mouths.

Now back to where I was....my wonderful idea that can change this country! Take people off of welfare and the streets, give (and I do mean give them, not say "free" and then later on demand money) them the tools and training to start their own online business. A business (a good, not scam, MLM is a good one, Donald Trump is a good one.) that won't need their time much. Get the homeless a P.O. box in their area using the local homeless shelter as an address (get the shelters permission first, of course) and also give them a pre-paid phone (Wal-Mart has a good one called Straight Talk and make sure it has minutes)

Now, once you do this you will notice a change. Less people on welfare means more money in the governments pockets to be spent on important things, such as schools and libraries (which alot are closing due to the lack of funds). Giving the homeless an income means that they will be off the streets and YOU have helped him/her change their lives.

Now, business owners, this is a really GREAT thing for you. Putting money in the wallets of these people means more money for YOU! A person cannot go into a store, franchise, or even online to spend money if they don't have it. Give them the way to make money, they have the money to spend. Which in turn gives money to businesses and franchises to grow and expand..creating more jobs. You would be changing this nation ONE PERSON AT A TIME!!

Can you imaging this nation if this were to happen? The thing about it is it is NOT impossible...it CAN happen!!! IF and that is a big IF...the rich change their addiction of money to the addiction of helping people.

Ok...now this mentality came from a 39 year old woman who has 4 mental illnesses (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Bi-Polar Depression, Attention Hyperactive Deficit Disorder and Social Anxiety Disorder) and also slight brain damage due to Domestic Violence to the head once or twice a week for 8 years. The thing about it is...I don't take medicine and I have started my own onlne business. I have the license to practice my home business in the state of Washington.

Post on here and tell me what you think...I do take critism good..I'm a writer.
